Minas Gerais, the fourth-largest Brazilian State located in the southeast of the country, is a showcase for Brazil’s best.
Minas Gerais covers an area of 587,172 square kilometres, making this State larger than France, Sweden, Spain or Japan! Located in the southeast of Brazil, it borders with six other states: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás, plus Brasília, the Federal District.
Minas Gerais boasts over 60% of Brazil’s national cultural heritage. In addition to historical and architectural buildings and museums, there is a vibrant and complex cocktail of arts and festivals recognised nationally and internationally.

Minas Gerais is an ecological paradise, and the parks within the State are perfect for the study and observation of flora and fauna.
Created in 1984, this park covers over 100,000 hectares with more than 1,600 species of flowers, some of which are unique to the region.
Located in Santa Barbara and Catas Altas’s welcoming cities’ vicinity, the Natural Park of Serra do Caraça offers stunning lakes, waterfalls, streams, mountains, and fauna and flora particular to the region.
Created by the headwaters of the São Francisco River, this park covers six districts of Minas Gerais: Sacramento, Capitólio, Delfinópolis, São João Batista do Glória, São Roque de Minas and Vargem Bonita.

Congonhas is an obligatory stop on the itinerary of the Royal Road’s historical cities (Estrada Real) as it is where the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matozinho.
Tiradentes’s romantic city has maintained the atmosphere of its colonial past, with well-kept houses, cobbled streets, and the legend of Joaquim Jose da Silva Xavier, who fought for freedom in Brazil.
