Minas Gerais is an ecological paradise

Minas Gerais is an ecological paradise, and the parks within the State are perfect for the study and observation of flora and fauna, including:

  • Cerrado vegetation in the west and Caatinga in the north;
  • Parks – orchids, bromeliads, candeias, lichens, ferns and campas rupestres;
  • Major rivers including the São Francisco river, the principal river running through Minas Gerais, as well as waterfalls;
  • Hidden caves with rivers, waterfalls, stalactites and stalagmites, bones from large extinct animals, ancient stone tools and rare limestone formations and inscriptions;
  • Mountains and caves that make up the Minas ecosystem where protected species such as the maned wolf, giant anteaters, pumas ocelots, deer-pampas and merganser may be found.
